Our collaboration with Ripstone Games transformed the traditional game of chess into an immersive sonic experience.  We provided Audio Director, developing a comprehensive binaural audio system that responds dynamically to gameplay, time of day, and environmental conditions.

The audio design creates a living, breathing world through multiple interwoven systems.  A dynamic day-night cycle influences the ambient soundscape, with wildlife that adapts its behaviour based on time and weather conditions.  The weather system itself provides another layer of immersion, from gentle rain to dramatic storms, each crafted to enhance the gameplay experience. 

Chess pieces come alive through carefully crafted sound design, with each type having its unique sonic signature to go alongside the stunning VFX that occur when capture sequences trigger building tension and drama.

The game's score adapts to match the strategic depth of chess, with layers of music that evolve based on game progress.  All audio elements are delivered through a sophisticated binaural implementation using Wwise, creating a truly three-dimensional sound field that places players at the center of this reimagined chess universe.
